While I agree with ScottishRoss' sentiments..I happen to know the *actual* figures.. Scotland has £11,000 per head spent every year which adds up to around 60 Billion. Scotland's block grant (included in the 60 Billion) is set to go down to 28.8 Billion for the year/s 2020/2021: https://fraserofallander.org/scottish-economy/budget/whats-happening-to-the-scottish-block-grant-in-2020-21/ Westminster spends the rest of whatever is left over from that 60 Billion, while pocketing around 8 to 9 Billion a year. (see first link).. now it could be said this is spent on defense, however based on GDP is would mean 12-14% of Scotland's GDP is spent on defense which is an absurd amount due to the poverty in Scotland. But despite Scotland having the most natural resources per head of the whole UK, it remained and still remains the poorest country of the Kingdom. Conversely, London and the South East has the least natural resources of the UK but remains the wealthiest (see picture in first link). I remind any reader that Scotland has had 90% (or greater) employment for around 20 years now. Despite this we are still poor. This can only be by mismanagement of Westminster of Scotland's 'other' funds. How? Where does our money go? I oft wonder why a secretary or server gets 10 times in London the wages they would get anywhere else.. not normal is it? Scottish oil money and indeed other parts of England go to fund London and the South East of England. But I do not want to misrepresent my intentions.. I have another major reason for wanting to leave the UK, and its cultural.. Scotland's culture is barely hanging on by a wispy thread and my suggestion would be a hard border to try to repair the damage of English prestige values in Scotland.. to teach Scots and Gaelic in schools and not English. 'British' is merely a rebranded name for English Culture that all must accept.. as I was taught in school to accept much like a slot machine accepts coins, I was taught about England and the English.. nothing about Wales or Ireland.. only England. Scottish Highland dancing for P1 and P2 but then M.Thatcher came in and put a stop to all that.. from then on I was taught about English medieval history.. maypole dancing and English medieval stories.. in high school.. taught about English Lords and Ladies in history class.. for a mind numbing 2 hours 3 times a week. Nothing about 'British' is 'Scottish'. As the bible says ;as ye sow so shall ye reap'.. and what's reaped now is resentment. The generations of brainwashed adults are either educating themselves to British = English or passing away. Educating themselves to our language (Scots). To our culture and values and not being pseudo second rate English.
