Ahoyhoy Internet!
I was thinking.. with countries going more regularly to Luna with their own experiments..
Wouldn't it make sense if all landers could fit together in to a moonbase?
Imagine if each lander could 'lego' in to the next.. and all the parts could be stripped out and rearranged.. so each lander serves it purpose but instead of it being junked.. the resources are kept and reused.
Work Smarter NOT Harder..
It takes great efforts to get human made objects on to the moon.. if each lander was of a modular design including the solar panels and electronics.. each lander being able to be converted to a room of the base.. reusing the Lunar Rover but fitted with new batteries and all landing zones being close enough that the lander parts could be brought together..
This would give a base while the lunar igloos were being built.
I'd even go as far as dragging the international space station to the moon.. and 'soft' crashing it in to it.. so we could salvage any parts.. a lunar junkyard.
This junkyard might also be good for collected space debris.. just dump everything there.. and if lunar (Astronauts/Cosmonauts) colonists require a part, they would not need to wait on the earth to send it.
International cooperation.. and like a timeshare, the countries involved are allocated weeks and then book time in the base..
I have often thought we should use telemetry robots in various space exploration efforts.. controlled via a suit and VR headset.
I also think while on Luna we should have robot dogs, like boston dynamics.. telemetry controlled via a system much like Annapurna['s game 'Stray'.
But I digress..
The idea of a modular cooperative base jigsaw lego'd from Lander parts appealed to me and I juts thought I'd share it here.
Helium-3 Today NOT Tomorrow..
Humanity NEEDS a He3 plant on the moon TODAY.. sending large quantities of the stuff back down.. possible via The Space Shuttle or another countries equivalent.
1KG of He3 could power the US for 1 year.. imagine having over 10 tonnes of the stuff.Imagine post scarcity and a clean environment.. and an end to war..
give that some thought eh?
