Center Right Libertarianism.. Is It Moral?

Hi WWW

This has been going round in my head for a week, time to get it out.

I have said in the past Libertarianism is a moral style of government..but first..

What is Libertarianism?

Libertarianism Center-Right is the doctrine that:

'The government is there to empower the individual, and not restrain the individual'

Low taxation, low public spend, .. they will refuse to make laws that interfere with your daily life, in other words, they will accept things like legalization of certain drugs for consumption, legalization of firearms. you want to homeschool your kid?.. that's fine! They put a high value on personal liberty.

This excludes murder, theft, rape, cannibalism..

They are both anti-war and anti-immigration, the conservatives being pro-war and anti-immigration,
They enjoy encouraging small business and big business alike, and will give tax breaks to banks who will loan out money to small businesses. For them it's all about enabling the individual to do whatever it is they want to do.

How do Libertarians deal with the question of dependency on the government?

Libertarians, specifically American Libertarians as the movement is stronger there, have struggled with this question because:

1. leaving the disabled, sick and elderly to die, is fascist and so makes this system of governance, NOT moral, but immoral.

2. Entitlement is seen as an 'evil' to Libertarians.

3. Inclusion to pay for others is seen as punishment.

To Answer:

The price you pay for the other morality afforded you that Libertarianism *can* be a moral style of government.. the price you pay is a tax to provide for the disabled, sick and elderly.

For Libertarians.. there must be a difference between .. can't and won't

there must be a difference between .. can't and won't
there must be a difference between .. can't and won't
there must be a difference between .. can't and won't.

If there is no difference between these two states.. then Libertarianism is NOT moral; as intent is a fundamental part of law.

While the removal of laws is part of Libertarianism, no Libertarian condones, murder or rape.. in doing this, it is an establishment of law which ratifies the morality of the style of government as.. moral.

This is done with self interest, so that those who do not wish it, are not murdered or raped. The context is moral self-defense and recourse of vengeance.

The liberty provided in reduced laws and lesser governmental interference comes at a price, that price is to pay for those who cannot do for themselves, it is the only way Libertarianism can maintain morality. Putting the Center in to Center Right with Liberal Centrist Welfare for those who cannot.

Doing this shows you are moral, shows you respect the difference between can't and won't, enabling you to have a government that has access to changing laws in the first place.

Those who won't.. are not provided for.

In capitalism, the family shares the burden, potentially reducing profit.. this is an inelegant system and again to provide the morality of their style of governance.. they must protect the disabled, sick and elderly financially. Enabling workers to work harder and pay more overall tax due to increased hours which in turn pays for their relatives who are disabled, sick and elderly.

Not all governmental systems are perfect and not all governmental systems are moral.
